Job Description
Our client is seeking a full-time Registered Nurse to serve as Assistant Nurse Manager (ANM) of Labor and Delivery at a prestigious Magnet®-designated acute care hospital in Torrance, California. Required Experience Qualified candidates should have:
- Active California Registered Nurse license in good standing — required at time of application
- Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) or graduate degree from an accredited nursing program
- Current BLS certification through the American Heart Association — required
- Recent clinical experience in an acute care hospital setting
- Demonstrated ability to support unit-level planning, organizing, directing, and evaluation of nursing services
Preferred Qualifications Candidates with the following will be given strong consideration:
- Recent Labor and Delivery nursing experience
- Charge Nurse or Relief Charge Nurse experience
- Leadership or management experience in a clinical setting
- Shared Governance participation or experience
Required Qualifications Candidates must have:
- Active California RN license in good standing
- BSN or graduate degree from an accredited school of nursing
- Ability to commute to or reside near Torrance, CA 90503
- Ability to work flexible schedules across all shifts in a 24-hour operation, including weekends as needed
- Consistent and reliable attendance — essential to this role
Key Responsibilities In this role, the Assistant Nurse Manager will be responsible for:
- Utilizing the nursing process to manage clinical and operational activities within assigned shift
- Supporting the unit director/manager in planning, organizing, directing, and evaluating unit services
- Providing managerial presence and clinical leadership across all shifts
- Serving as a liaison between patients, families, physicians, and the interdisciplinary care team
- Supporting staff performance, coaching, mentorship, and professional development
- Ensuring compliance with clinical standards, regulatory requirements, and hospital policies
- Promoting a culture of patient safety, clinical excellence, and mutual respect
- Contributing to Shared Governance and unit-level quality improvement initiatives
