Our client is seeking a Pharmacist in Charge to lead pharmacy operations and a team of pharmacy technicians at a newly opened retail pharmacy location in Galena, Illinois.

Required Experience Qualified candidates should have:
- Minimum 3–5 years of retail pharmacy management experience
- Active PharmD license in the state of Illinois — required at time of application
- Demonstrated experience managing pharmacy technician teams, including scheduling and performance oversight
- Proficiency with pharmacy patient management systems
- Strong working knowledge of HIPAA, Fraud Waste and Abuse regulations, and applicable state and federal pharmacy law
- Excellent oral and written communication skills
Required Qualifications Candidates must have:
- Doctorate of Pharmacy (PharmD) degree
- Active, unrestricted Illinois Pharmacist License — candidates in process of obtaining licensure will not be considered
- Ability to lead, direct, and motivate a pharmacy technician team
- Strong organizational and time management skills
- Commitment to regulatory compliance, patient safety, and operational accuracy
Key Responsibilities In this role, the Pharmacist in Charge will be responsible for:
- Reviewing and executing provider prescriptions, verifying appropriateness and legality
- Preparing and dispensing medications using correct dosages and materials for each individual patient
- Maintaining full control over medication inventory, including stocking, labeling, and monitoring for expiration or deterioration
- Organizing the pharmacy for maximum efficiency and ease of product identification
- Maintaining accurate patient profiles and complete medication dispensing histories
- Directing the daily work of pharmacy technicians, providing performance input and advising senior management of any issues or accommodations
- Managing technician schedules and coordinating daily staffing needs
- Ensuring pharmacy staff compliance with all federal, state, local, and facility-specific regulations and policies
- Listening to and advising patients on medication needs, usage, and concerns
- Upholding all HIPAA and applicable credentialing standards
