Administrative Director, Surgical Services - South Central Texas


The Opportunity

A well-established, multi-facility health system in South Texas is seeking an experienced Administrative Director to lead Surgical Services. This system has served its community for well over a century and includes multiple full-service hospitals, a dedicated pediatric emergency unit, and a broad network of ambulatory and specialty care services. This is an excellent opportunity for a results-oriented nursing leader who wants to drive operational excellence, elevate patient outcomes, and build a high-performing surgical services team within a mission-driven organization. Required Experience

  • Minimum 5 years of progressive management experience within the OR/Surgical Services setting
  • 3–5 years of progressively responsible management experience preferred


Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Nursing required; Master's degree in Nursing, Business, or a related field preferred
  • Current Texas RN license required
  • Specialty or administrative certification desired
  • Active Basic Life Support certification required at hire; AHA BLS required within 60 days of hire


Key Responsibilities

  • Plan, direct, and manage operations, staffing, and budget for assigned surgical services departments on a 24/7 basis
  • Set department goals aligned with overall organizational strategy and drive achievement of quality and performance outcomes
  • Recruit, develop, and lead department staff, fostering a culture of accountability, engagement, and low turnover
  • Partner closely with medical staff and interdisciplinary teams to support timely, effective patient care decisions
  • Use data and performance metrics to identify improvement opportunities, redesign workflows, and reduce risk
  • Champion a strong culture of service excellence, regulatory compliance, and continuous performance improvement
