Job Description
Electrical and Mechanical Trades Technician
We are seeking a skilled Electrical and Mechanical Trades Technician to install, maintain, troubleshoot, and repair electrical, mechanical, and electromechanical systems across industrial, commercial, manufacturing, or facility environments. This role is ideal for a safety-focused trades professional who can work across multiple systems, interpret technical documents, diagnose issues efficiently, and complete high-quality work that supports reliable operations.
Key Responsibilities
• Install, inspect, maintain, troubleshoot, and repair electrical and mechanical systems, components, and equipment, including motors, controls, drives, conveyors, pumps, gearboxes, pneumatic systems, and related machinery.
• Read and interpret blueprints, schematics, wiring diagrams, mechanical drawings, technical manuals, and work orders to perform work accurately and efficiently.
• Diagnose equipment issues using testing instruments, meters, hand tools, power tools, and mechanical or electrical troubleshooting techniques.
• Perform preventive maintenance, corrective repairs, upgrades, and equipment adjustments to reduce downtime and improve performance.
• Assist with installation, assembly, alignment, calibration, and startup of new or modified electrical and mechanical equipment.
• Inspect systems and equipment to identify wear, defects, hazards, code concerns, or operational issues, and recommend corrective action when needed.
• Maintain accurate maintenance records, inspection logs, work orders, parts usage documentation, and status updates for completed work.
• Coordinate with supervisors, production teams, contractors, vendors, and other trades to support safe, timely, and effective completion of maintenance or project work.
• Ensure all work is completed in compliance with applicable safety standards, lockout/tagout procedures, PPE requirements, and company policies.
• Support continuous improvement efforts by identifying recurring equipment issues and contributing to reliability, efficiency, and maintenance process improvements.
Qualifications
• High school diploma or GED required; technical training, vocational education, apprenticeship, or trade certification in electrical, mechanical, industrial maintenance, electromechanical technology, or a related field preferred.
• Previous experience in electrical and mechanical maintenance, industrial trades, facilities maintenance, manufacturing support, or a related technical role preferred.
• Strong knowledge of electrical systems, motors, controls, mechanical components, power transmission, pneumatics, and troubleshooting techniques.
• Ability to read and interpret blueprints, schematics, wiring diagrams, technical documents, and equipment manuals.
• Knowledge of safe work practices, including lockout/tagout, PPE, electrical safety, and general maintenance safety requirements.
• Ability to use hand tools, power tools, measuring devices, electrical testing instruments, and diagnostic equipment safely and effectively.
• Ability to perform physically demanding work, including lifting, climbing, standing, bending, and working in varying temperatures or industrial environments.
• Strong communication, time management, problem-solving, and teamwork skills with the ability to work independently and prioritize tasks effectively.
