Job Description
Vice President of Design – Commercial Foodservice Design Consulting Operations
We have an Excellent Oportunity for the Vice President of Design (VP of Design), who is responsible for the overall leadership, performance, and strategic direction of the Foodservice Design practice. This role has full accountability for design operations, including staffing, financial performance, quality control, risk management, client satisfaction, and long-term growth.
The VP of Design ensures that the Foodservice Design practice operates as a high-performing, scalable, and profitable business unit, aligned with company strategy, culture, and brand.
All Directors of Design and design staff ultimately report through this role.
This role is a remote position.
Key Responsibilities
Strategic & Operational Leadership
· Own the vision, structure, and performance of the Foodservice Design operation.
· Establish and refine design standards, workflows, staffing models, and best practices.
· Ensure consistency and excellence across all projects, offices, and teams.
· Partner with executive leadership on firm-wide strategy, staffing plans, and financial forecasting.
Financial & Business Accountability
· Accountable for Foodservice Design revenue, utilization, profitability, backlog, and billing.
· Review and guide budgets, fees, staffing plans, and workload projections.
· Monitor KPIs including utilization, write-ups/write-downs, AR exposure, and margin performance.
· Support Go/No-Go decisions, proposal strategy, and pricing.
Leadership & Talent Development
· Directly manage Directors of Design; provide coaching, accountability, and performance oversight.
· Ensure succession planning, bench strength, and leadership development across all design roles.
· Champion training, mentorship, and professional growth at every level.
Quality, Risk & Client Outcomes
· Ensure rigorous quality control processes are implemented and followed.
· Identify and mitigate risk across contracts, scope, and deliverables.
· Maintain senior-level client relationships and intervene when projects require escalation.
· Represent the firm as a senior industry leader and trusted advisor.
Cross-Functional Integration
· Coordinate with Marketing, MAS, Waste, Laundry, BIM, Accounting, and HR leadership.
· Ensure Foodservice Design integrates seamlessly with broader firm services and initiatives.
Qualifications
· 15+ years of progressive foodservice design experience.
· Proven leadership of multi-level teams and complex projects.
· Strong financial, operational, and strategic management capabilities.
· FCSI Professional membership preferred.
