Job Description
Special Imaging – MRI Supervisor - Academic Medical Center — North Texas
The Opportunity
A large academic medical center in North Texas is looking for a working MRI Supervisor to help lead its Special Imaging team. This is a hands-on leadership role — you'll split your time between running exams as a working supervisor and coaching, scheduling, and developing an experienced team of 13 MRI technologists who staff a busy department running both GE and Siemens scanners.
You'll work closely with the Imaging Director and radiology team, stepping in as department liaison whenever the manager is out, with real input into staffing, policy, and how the unit runs day to day. The schedule is full-time days with some flexibility, generally falling between 7:00 a.m. and 3:30 p.m., and includes rotating holiday call plus backup call coverage for the unit (within a 60-minute radius).
Benefits
• Sign-on bonus and relocation assistance available
• Immediate eligibility for health and welfare benefits
• 401(k) savings plan with a dollar-for-dollar match up to 5%
• Tuition reimbursement
• PTO accrual beginning on day one
Required Experience
• Graduate of an accredited MRI program
• 3+ years of relevant MRI experience
• 2+ years of current leadership experience within a high-volume MRI department operating multiple scanners and performing complex exams, including those involving sedation, pacemakers, and implants
Required Qualifications
Required:
• BLS certification within 30 days of hire/transfer
• Certification through the American Registry of Radiologic Technologists in Magnetic Resonance Imaging (ARRT-MR) or Radiography (ARRT-R), or through the American Registry of Magnetic Resonance Imaging Technologists (ARMRIT)
Preferred:
• Experience with cardiac MRI studies
• Experience with Brainlab cases
Key Responsibilities
• Oversee day-to-day imaging operations, keeping exams accurate, timely, and cost-efficient while staying compliant with regulatory and system standards — and step in to perform exams as workload requires
• Manage staffing levels, schedules, and resources so the department runs smoothly around the clock
• Interview, coach, train, and evaluate staff, and keep certifications and competencies current across the team
• Set and track team goals, fold them into performance reviews, and champion participation in employee and patient satisfaction initiatives
• Partner with leadership on department budgeting, equipment needs, and corrective action for productivity or expense variances
• Champion a culture of service excellence and patient-centered care, holding the team accountable to those standards
• Serve as a liaison between Radiology and other departments, building relationships with physicians and helping shape policies and procedures
• Help ensure the department stays compliant with Joint Commission and other accrediting body standards
• Lead or participate in committees and initiatives focused on patient safety, quality improvement, and process improvement, including LEAN and 5S projects
