ASC Administrator – High-Volume Multispecialty Surgery Center (Houston, TX)

A leading national surgery center operator is hiring an Administrator to run one of its busiest multispecialty centers in the Houston area. The package pairs a competitive base salary with annual and quarterly incentives, and relocation help is available.

The opportunity

You’ll take the helm of a well-run, profitable center and own its results end to end: operations, finances, people, quality and growth. The seat is open only because the current leader is moving to another market within the organization, so you’ll inherit a stable team and engaged physician owners.

The center

•          Hospital-affiliated joint venture between a major health system and its physician partners, managed day to day by our client

•          Accredited by The Joint Commission

•          4 operating rooms and 2 procedure rooms performing roughly 700 cases a month

•          21 physician partners and a team of 39

•          GI-led case mix, with pain, general surgery, urology, ENT, orthopedics and gynecology

•          Strong financial footing and clear room to add surgeons and service lines

What you’ll own

•          Running the center’s business, clinical support and administrative functions every day

•          Partnering with the board of managers and medical staff, and reporting to regional leadership

•          Keeping the center survey-ready and compliant with state, federal and accreditation requirements

•          Building and hitting the operating, labor and capital budgets

•          Tracking financial and operational results and fixing problems early

•          Hiring, developing and holding the team accountable, and planning staffing to volume

•          Growing physician loyalty and overseeing credentialing and medical staff affairs

•          Negotiating and managing vendor, service and physician agreements

•          Driving patient safety, infection prevention, quality and patient satisfaction

•          Finding new cases, new surgeons and new service lines

Who we’re looking for

You are a proven ASC Administrator, or a hospital director (or above) who has led surgical services and worked with surgery centers.

Must have

•          Three or more years in a senior healthcare leadership role

•          Full P&L or budget ownership with a record of meeting or beating targets

•          Strong, trusted relationships with surgeons and clinical leaders

•          A bachelor’s degree, or equivalent experience

Nice to have

•          RN or other clinical background (not required, given the on-site Clinical Director)

•          A master’s degree in healthcare or business administration

•          Experience growing case volume and recruiting physicians

•          A track record of building a positive, accountable culture
