Director of Engineering — Commercial Ice Machines 📍 Denver, CO · On-site · Full-time, Salaried + Profit-Sharing

A global leader in commercial ice machines and storage bins — trusted for over 70 years by restaurants, hotels, hospitals, schools, and convenience stores worldwide — is seeking a Director of Engineering to own its technical future. We’re a high-volume manufacturer that runs on innovation, quality, and craftsmanship.

This is a rare role for an engineer who loves refrigeration and electromechanical design and wants to lead. You won’t be a hands-off executive — you’ll set the technical roadmap, mentor a talented multidisciplinary team, and stay close enough to the work to shape design verification units, weigh in on manufacturability, and drive root-cause analysis when it matters most.

What you’ll do

·       Lead all engineering functions — product design, development, testing, and system integration — and set the long-term technical vision.

·       Drive new product development from concept to commercialization: on time, on budget, on spec.

·       Improve existing products for reliability, manufacturability, and cost, and cut warranty claims through reliability engineering and structured problem-solving (DFMEA, stage-gate, root-cause analysis).

·       Own refrigerant transitions, energy-efficiency gains, and compliance with UL, NSF, CE, CSA, TÜV, and REACH.

·       Partner across manufacturing, supply chain, marketing, and external vendors — and report results directly to the President as part of the leadership team.

What you bring

·       A Bachelor’s in Engineering (advanced degree or PE a plus).

·       10–15+ years of progressive engineering experience, including team leadership.

·       A track record delivering complex programs in refrigeration, HVAC, or electromechanical manufacturing.

·       Deep command of thermodynamics, refrigeration systems, DFM, and validation testing — plus CAD/FEA fluency.

·       Strong business sense and the ability to lead with both vision and hands-on technical credibility.
