Our client is seeking a full-time Certified Occupational Therapist Assistant to join a skilled nursing team in New Port Richey, Florida. Required Experience Qualified candidates should have:
- Minimum Associate of Science in Occupational Therapy Assisting from an accredited program
- Current, active Florida COTA license — required at time of application
- CPR Certification — required
- Previous experience in skilled nursing or long-term care settings preferred — new graduates welcome
- Knowledge of medical terminology and various occupational therapy treatment modalities
- Familiarity with patient care practices and the ability to work effectively within an interdisciplinary team
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
- Strong organizational, time management, and computer/technology skills
Required Qualifications Candidates must have:
- Active Florida COTA license in good standing
- Ability to commute to or reside near New Port Richey, FL 34653
- Ability to work a full-time schedule, Monday–Friday
- Strong documentation habits with the ability to accurately track and report patient progress
- Commitment to compliance with all company policies and applicable state and federal regulations
Key Responsibilities In this role, the Certified Occupational Therapist Assistant will be responsible for:
- Collaborating with licensed Occupational Therapists to develop and implement individualized patient treatment plans
- Assisting patients with therapeutic exercises and activities to improve mobility, function, and independence
- Conducting resident screenings as scheduled and contributing objective data to the supervising Occupational Therapist within scope of practice
- Monitoring and documenting patient progress accurately during therapy sessions
- Educating patients and their families on at-home exercises, adaptive techniques, and self-care strategies
- Providing occupational therapy treatment to residents per the established plan of care
- Supporting patient care utilizing knowledge of medical terminology and evidence-based treatment modalities
- Actively contributing to the success of the rehab department, interdisciplinary team, and overall facility outcomes
