Job Description
Semiconductor Process Technician
We are seeking a detail-oriented Semiconductor Process Technician to support wafer fabrication activities in a cleanroom manufacturing environment. This role is ideal for a hands-on technical professional who can execute process steps, monitor product flow and equipment conditions, collect and document data, and work closely with engineers and production teams to maintain process stability, quality, and yield.
Key Responsibilities
• Execute semiconductor process operations in assigned fab areas by following approved work instructions, process specifications, and cleanroom procedures.
• Operate and monitor process equipment used in wafer fabrication, which may include photolithography, deposition, etch, cleaning, diffusion, or related manufacturing steps depending on the assigned area.
• Monitor product flow, process indicators, equipment status, and SPC or control chart data, and respond appropriately to out-of-control conditions or process deviations.
• Perform wafer handling, lot movement, inspection, metrology support, and data collection activities to help maintain quality, cycle time, and yield performance.
• Document process activity, observations, issues, defects, and corrective actions accurately in tracking systems, logs, or electronic records.
• Assist with process qualifications, engineering experiments, trial runs, and other technical evaluations under direction from process or manufacturing engineers.
• Support equipment checks, basic maintenance coordination, calibration verification, and housekeeping tasks that help maintain a stable manufacturing environment.
• Follow all contamination control, gowning, PPE, chemical safety, and cleanroom requirements to protect product integrity and workplace safety.
• Communicate process concerns, equipment issues, and production priorities clearly with engineers, technicians, and shift teams.
• Promote a disciplined, quality-focused, and team-oriented approach that supports safe operations and consistent semiconductor manufacturing performance.
Qualifications
• High school diploma or GED required; associate degree or technical training in electronics, semiconductor manufacturing, engineering technology, materials science, or a related field preferred.
• Previous experience in semiconductor manufacturing, wafer fabrication, cleanroom operations, technical production, or a related process technician role preferred.
• Familiarity with semiconductor process steps, cleanroom practices, contamination control, process monitoring, and production documentation is preferred.
• Ability to follow detailed work instructions, standard operating procedures, and process controls accurately and consistently.
• Basic understanding of SPC, process indicators, metrology, quality checks, or data collection tools is a plus.
• Strong attention to detail, troubleshooting ability, communication skills, and the ability to work independently and as part of a cross-functional team.
• Ability to work in a cleanroom environment, wear required protective garments, and support shift-based schedules including nights, weekends, or extended shifts as required.
• Experience with tracking systems, electronic records, manufacturing systems, or technical reporting tools is preferred.
Ideal Candidate Profile
The ideal candidate is dependable, detail-oriented, and technically capable, with the ability to follow standardized procedures while maintaining strong awareness of quality, contamination control, and process stability. They communicate clearly, work well with engineers and production teams, and take pride in supporting safe, accurate, and efficient semiconductor manufacturing operations.
Work Environment
This role supports semiconductor manufacturing operations and is typically performed on-site in a controlled cleanroom or fab environment. Work may involve extended standing, repetitive motions, cleanroom gowning, contamination control requirements, exposure to technical equipment and process tools, and support for rotating, night, weekend, or 12-hour shift schedules depending on production needs.
