The Opportunity

Our client is seeking a Director of Nursing, Emergency Services to lead a busy, high-acuity emergency department at a regional acute care hospital in the Tennessee Valley area of North Alabama, anchored in the historic Shoals community along the Tennessee River.

This is a strong fit for a seasoned ED nursing leader who thrives in a complex clinical environment and brings both the operational skills and the people leadership to move a high-volume department forward. The right candidate will be comfortable owning outcomes, quality, satisfaction, financial performance, and staff development, while staying connected to the clinical mission.

The facility is a 275-bed community hospital with a robust service line portfolio and a 24/7 emergency department that handles approximately 50K visits annually, including a dedicated senior care unit within the ED.

Required Experience

Qualified candidates should have:

• At least 5 years of progressive nursing leadership within an Emergency Services setting
• A demonstrated ability to build cohesive teams and lead through change
• Hands-on experience managing budgets and allocating resources in an acute care environment
• A history of using data to identify gaps and drive measurable improvement

Required Qualifications

Candidates must have:

• BSN from an accredited nursing program
• Current Alabama RN licensure or eligibility to obtain
• BLS and ACLS certification, or ability to obtain within a defined timeframe

Key Responsibilities

In this role, the Director of Nursing, Emergency Services will:

• Own full accountability for the day-to-day and strategic performance of the Emergency Department
• Set and pursue goals across quality, patient experience, throughput, and cost of care
• Build strong working relationships with physician partners, service line peers, and senior leadership
• Keep staff development, competency, and engagement at the center of department operations
• Ensure the department meets accreditation and regulatory requirements on an ongoing basis
• Actively participate in recruitment and retention efforts to maintain a stable, high-performing team
