Nurse Manager, ICU – Southern California
The Opportunity: Our client, an acute care hospital in Southern California, is seeking a Nurse Manager to lead its Intensive Care Unit. Required Experience: Qualified candidates should have:
- Two or more years of recent acute care experience, with ICU experience required
- Prior leadership experience as a Manager or in another Supervisory role
- Basic EKG and telemetry interpretation experience, or willingness to complete a Basic EKG course within six months of hire
- A track record of clinical expertise, sound judgment, and the ability to adapt to new information, technology, and evolving nursing practice
Required Qualifications: Candidates must have:
- Graduation from an accredited Registered Nursing program (BSN preferred)
- Current and valid California RN license
- Current BLS certification
- Current ACLS certification
Key Responsibilities: In this role, the Nurse Manager, ICU, will be responsible for:
- Overseeing daily operations of the ICU, including staffing to census and ensuring the department has the supplies and equipment needed to care for patients
- Maintaining a high level of clinical expertise and serving as a clinical resource to uphold nursing standards within the unit
- Ensuring adherence to hospital and unit policies and providing oversight for staff on the same
- Responding effectively in emergency patient care situations
- Delegating tasks and assignments to appropriate members of the care team to keep the unit running smoothly
- Modeling the positive traits of a successful manager, adapting to change, and participating as a team player
