Acute Care Hospital | Detroit Metro Area, Michigan

The Opportunity

  • Our client is seeking an accomplished and forward-thinking Director of Pharmacy to lead pharmacy services at a nationally recognized, specialty-focused acute care hospital in the Detroit metro area of Michigan. Compensation

•       Annual Incentive Plan (AIP) bonus program up to 10% of base salary

Required Experience

Qualified candidates should have:

•       Minimum of three to five years of pharmacy administration experience in a hospital setting

•       At least two to three years of supervisory or leadership experience within a hospital pharmacy function

•       Demonstrated ability to lead, develop, and retain pharmacy staff in a complex clinical environment

•       Pediatric pharmacy experience strongly preferred

•       Experience managing pharmacy budgets, regulatory compliance, and performance metrics

Required Qualifications

Candidates must have:

•       Doctor of Pharmacy (PharmD) degree or Master’s degree in Pharmacy, Business Administration, or a comparable graduate-level field

•       Postgraduate residency training or additional coursework in business administration preferred

•       Registered Pharmacist licensure in the State of Michigan, or eligibility to obtain within 90 days of hire

•       Controlled Substance licensure in the State of Michigan, or eligibility to obtain within 90 days of hire

Key Responsibilities

In this role, the Director of Pharmacy will be responsible for:

•       Directing the personnel, operational, and financial activities of the pharmacy services department

•       Leading the development, implementation, and ongoing revision of pharmacy procedures and protocols aligned with system-wide goals

•       Overseeing compliance with applicable laws, government regulations, accreditation requirements, and organizational policies

•       Driving budget development and monitoring for the pharmacy function, with accountability for fiscal performance

•       Approving personnel actions including hiring, performance management, disciplinary decisions, and timely completion of performance appraisals

•       Collaborating with senior leadership to define department policy and contribute to long-range organizational planning

•       Championing a culture of continuous improvement in patient safety, care quality, and operational efficiency

•       Supporting supplier diversity objectives and ensuring departmental adherence to organizational standards
